Hi There,

Little did I know at the time that the message I had posted to Twan's  
List this past November was to be the last... until now. Allow me to  
explain:

A friend of a friend had been hosting TwansList on his servers. In  
November, there had been a hardware meltdown... and with that  
malfunction, the entire subscriber list of roughly 2,000 was  
seemingly lost to cyber-oblivion forever. Fortunately, a few months  
later, the somewhat flakey system administrator got around to digging  
into the guts of the old system, and he was able to extract the  
subscriber list. Hence the arrival of this message to your inbox.

However...

... the subscriber list he was able to extract was from the previous  
July. It was the best he could do.

As such, there are some folks who had unsubscribed from the list  
between July and November. If you're one of those people, please  
forgive this message. I'll be happy to take you off the list again,  
once and for all. You can unsubscribe yourself at the bottom of this  
email (I think), or reply to this message with "unsubscribe' in the  
subject line and I'll personally delete you from future postings.

There's so much more to the story of my recent vanishing act, but  
I'll spare you the gory details. Perhaps I'll talk about those  
elsewhere. Maybe. Maybe not. This list is supposed to be about all- 
things-fun, and I'll do my best to keep it that way.

P.S. Stay tuned for more information. Though I may have disappeared  
for a year or so, I have not been sleeping: I know there are many  
fun, exciting, and unusual things afoot in this city of Lost Angels.  
I intend to let you know when and where, as I had always been fond of  
doing. Shenanigans, anyone?
