** SAT. JUNE 7: CARNEVALE! VENICE BEACH RETURNS ! **
http://www.twanslist.com/2008/venice-beach-carneval/
Venice, CA-The sixth Carnevale! Venice Beach will be held on
Saturday, June 7th at Beyond Baroque, 681 Venice Boulevard from noon
until 9 PM. Admission is free and costumes are encouraged in the
tradition of the famed Carnevale in Venice, Italy which is the
inspiration of this colorful neighborhood festival.
The Venice Carnevale, produced by the Venice Artists Forum in
Association with the Venice Chamber of Commerce and sponsored in
party by the City ofLos Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, will
feature an all-day lineup of live entertainment from the local area
and will conclude with its traditional fiery finale.
“We are very excited to be moving our festival to the Beyond Baroque
Literary Arts Center, located in the old City Hall, right next to the
fire station on Venice Boulevard just east of Abbot Kinney, and there
could not be a more appropriate historical location,” Jauchem said.
“It will be an added treat that the old jail next door which houses
SPARC (Social & Public Art Resource Center) also be open for the
festival that day.”
“We have some of our usual, fantastic performers” said Miriam More,
Co-Producer, “and some fabulous new talent.Featured groups will
include the Venice Drum Circle, Street Smarts, Kathy Leonardo,
Wadada, Hillel “Mr. Balloonman”, and a variety of other performances
ranging from Baraka bellydancing to Italian opera, ending with
apyrotechic bang furnished by DMT and the Phoenix Group fire dancers!”.
Brady Walker, the other Co-Producer, who has been handling relations
with the City, had high praise for Councilman Bill Rosendahl’s
office, “His staff has been extremely helpful in working out the
details for use of this city facility. We could not have staged the
Carnevale without their help.”
The festival will include a variety of performances on the Main
Stage, Arts and Crafts vendors, food service, and the Masquerade Bar
and Lounge with DJ Fatfinger from Project Alma and guest DJ’s all
day.Parking is available in public lots east of the event behind the
Pacific Resident Theater.Further information is available at

Help Playa Surfers Camp Get to Burning Man
Tiki Freaky - Burning Man Camp Fundraiser
Playa Surfers were on the Esplanade near 5:30 last year. In addition
to a fun lounge and wicked tuneage, we provided wheeled surfboards
(bike-towed versions and self-powered ones) for the masses in BRC to
surf the playa with. Totally fun if we say so ourselves! This year
we’re expanding our lounge, adding a lifeguard tower, and putting mo’
and betta’ powered surfboards on the playa for all to enjoy!
Please help us in pursuit of bringing our brand of happiness to you
by participating in our fundraising party. Our last party was truly
off the hook, so we’re at it again!

** SAT. JUNE 7: HYPERBOREA **
Hyperborea this Sat!
Hyperborea, dream-shrouded land of mystical energies behind the north
wind emerges again from occultation. We have been there once before,
wide-eyed and wondering explorers. Seasoned dreamers of dreams, we
now are ready to push out of the splendid city and recontact the long-
wandering 11th tribe who play under spinning stars.
UPDATE: The location has been confirmed as a go and has been
reconnoitered by high-speed, low-drag Audio Response Team tactical
operators. It is approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours generally north of
Los Angeles, directions will be posted via email and on the web on
the seventh.
On the evening of June 7, 2008, we will reopen the portal to
Hyperborea and travel deeper into its realms. The music will start at
9:00 p.m. and go until 10:00 a.m. If you want updates, directions,
etc., email us .

The Alien Underground
and possibly other surprise appearances...
Due to the generosity of the Alien Underground, we will be able to
offer you tasty warm beverages all night long. To defray all the
other expenses involved in putting on this event, we are asking for a
suggested donation of $10 as you arrive.
Hyperborea is a place of beauty and wonder, suffice it to say for now
that countless stars fill the sky overhead in their terrible beauty,
rounded mountains huddle around and slumber in their wisdom, and
there is a soft, cool breeze. Paths loop amidst the temple complex
from the central focus to hidden stones and nearby peaks. Totems of
ancient and unknown significance surround the focal point and are
bathed in a weird, pulsating light that beckons caravans from beyond
the Tanarian Hills.
Hyperborea will manifest itself outdoors overnight away from
civilisation as we know it. Bring warm clothes, plenty of water,
blankets or a sleeping bag, and a happy smile. You may also want
something to snack on. Generally speaking, be prepared and we'll all
have a great time. There will be an area suitable for fire
performances, email in advance for details. There will also be an
established fire-pit, if you want a fire to stand next to, bring
firewood. Further instructions will be posted or emailed with the
directions.

interested in attending you might want to sign up. I just found out
the Isis Aquarian, one of the members of Father Yahowa's Source
family, will be on the tour. (I wrote the intro to the amazing Source
book that came out last year from Process.) We will be having lunch
one the lawn of the Aetherius Society, one of the area's classic UFO
sects. Its going to be a blast methinks.
Details:
WHAT: "Visionary Hollywood" bus tour of historic spiritual sites, led
by Erik Davis
WHEN: Saturday June 7, 10:45am-3:45pm, departs from Skylight Books in
Los Feliz
COST: $64/person, lunch included

In June Esotouric, the eclectic bus adventure company whose tours
reveal L.A.'s secret history, launches VISIONARY HOLLYWOOD, a new tour
hosted by San Francisco-based writer Erik Davis and inspired by his
acclaimed 2006 book "The Visionary State." On this journey of
exploration through the mystic realms of Los Angeles, co-sponsored by
Arthur
magazine, passengers will join Erik on a guided tour of five
extraordinary
religious sites, meet followers of their respective faiths and
explore the fascinating
history of alternative religious practice in Southern California.
The tour departs from Skylight Books in Los Feliz and includes visits
to five extraordinary destinations:
THE AETHERIUS SOCIETY, a center for cosmic consciousness and healing
founded in 1955 by UFO contactee Dr. George King, where guests will
hear actual recordings of an extraterrestrial voice conveying
significant messages. KROTONA APARTMENTS, a former Theosophical
retreat founded in 1914, where guests will have a rare opportunity to
visit the central courtyard and view the Rosicrucian window of this
now-private residence. THE MONASTERY OF THE ANGELS, a Dominican
sanctuary in the Hollywood Hills, where guests will listen to the
sisters' Liturgy of the Hours singing, then shop for homemade pumpkin
bread, candy and crafts in their gift shop. THE PHILOSOPHICAL RESEARCH
SOCIETY, founded in 1934 as a non-denominational repository for the
wisdom of the world, where guests will be greeted by librarian,
lecturer and author Maja D'Aoust and given a guided tour of the
Society's remarkable library. THE VEDANTA SOCIETY OF SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA, founded in 1930 to bring sacred Hindu philosophy to the
West, where guests will be given a presentation on the Society's
history and programming, and browse in its fine gift shop.
Tour cost includes a catered lunch served at The Aetherius Society and
a seat on a luxury coach class bus equipped with monitors, air
conditioning and restroom.
RELATED EVENTS: On Sunday, June 8 at 11am, tour host Erik Davis
invites the public to a brunch gathering entitled "The Visionary
State: An Open Discussion on California Spirituality," at Clifton's
Cafeteria, 648 South Broadway in downtown Los Angeles.
On Sunday, June 15th at 8pm, Erik will also host a program of short
films and talks
at the Silent Movie Theatre devoted to "Occult Los Angeles." Also
presenting will be Louis Sahagun, author of “Master of the
Mysteries”, a new bio of Manly P. Hall; and Brian Butler, an expert
on the life of Cameron, mistress of JPL rocket scientist Jack Parsons
and LA’s most intriguing enchantress.

** SUN. JUNE 8: PERMACULTURE WORKSHOPS IN TOPANGA **
Greetings, and welcome to the new paradigm.
This Sunday is the 2nd of 4 permaculture workshops being held this
year at
the 13 acre intentional community in Topanga of which I am a founder.
WHAT: A fun day of hands on organic gardening and natural building.
WHERE: Fossil Creek Farms @ the Tribal Oasis Community.
WHEN: Sunday, June 8th at 11am.
WHY: Obama wins the nomination, GM announces it's stopping
production of
trucks due to high gas prices, and Schwarzenegger announces
California is in
a drought, all in one day.
What a great opportunity to explore sustainable future systems.
In the ongoing growth of our healing community, we are continuing
extensive
gardening and exploring straw bale building.
In our first workshop we had a great bunch of individuals 'dig' in
and learn
about soil supplementation in creating garden beds, as well as the
alternative building system of reclaimed gabion block wall foundations.
This Sunday we'll continue these demonstrations as well as design water
systems to sustain our plantings. As a certified Permaculture
Designer and
Architect I'd also like to experiment with my knowledge of grey water
systems and earthen plaster.
The first architect I worked for in 1983 was Mike Reynolds of the
Earthship
Housing fame (Google him, the garbage warrior). I carried that
knowledge
throughout the 90's when it wasn't much appreciated and have been
able to
finally incorporate much of this sustainable passive architecture into
recent projects. I recommend his books.
Los Angeles is the only metropolis in the world without its own water
source. We steal it from 3 neighboring states and counties. There are
legal problems with this to say the least and, in short, as Angelenos we
need to reeducate others about water use taken for granted. I'd like to
share with others how we can install simple water catchment and gray
water
systems right in the city and save a lot of money and karma easily.
SCHEDULE: 11 am - 12 noon: Tour of the property and talk on
permaculture,
natural building and alternative water systems. 12:30 - 6 pm:
Hands on
workshop on gabion foundations, straw bale building, earthen plaster,
garden
irrigation, and gray water systems, a good preperation for summer.
It is $20 for the lecture only and Free for your full participation.
Bring
snacks and drinks, gloves, and a sun hat.
Call 310 455 1341 to reserve a spot and I'll call you back to confirm
address. Carpool, we're 15 minutes from Santa Monica near Town of
Topanga.

** NEW MUTAYTOR RECORD AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD **
It's with brimming pride that the Mutaytor is is pleased to announce
the completion and release of our third and newest album, "Yelling
Theatre in a Crowded Fire", our most ambitious and sonically evolved
work to date, almost two years in the making. This is our first album
to feature full ensemble in-studio performances from our eleven piece
modern rock orchestra, as well as special guest appearances from some
of our more talented friends. This also is our first album to feature
vocally driven numbers from several featured singers.
You can download the new mutaytor record RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND right
off the main page of www.mutaytor.com (give it a second for the
nimbit player to load up)
In the first review of the record, Los Angeles City Beat writer Ron
Garmon called the new album, "....a masterpiece....."Yelling Theater
in a Crowded Fire" is probably the most formidable work of art to
come out of the Burning Man subculture so far, but that’s a secondary
accomplishment. An unorthodox re-imagining of classic rock album
structure provides the framework for a series of neutron-funk
meditations on revolution, extinction, and fornication. A seamless
musical Frankenstein with the heart of "What’s Going On" and the
groin urges of "One Nation Under a Groove", this album is as much a
raised fist for Change as all those ubiquitous Obama posters."
In the next 2 months, we'll be relaunching our website and finalizing
the DVD. We'll be having listening parties in LA and San Francisco in
May, and June will mark the official release date with the physical
CD/DVD, the official Mutaytor fan club and much much more.
While we're at it - thanks so much for your support. Without you,
there is no us.
--With love from the entire Mutaytor crew
ps: don't forget to get out and vote this november. the whole world
is counting on us.

** LASERIUM SHOWS FOR JUNE **
http://www.twanslist.com/2008/laserium-schedule-june/
This month, Laserium shows will be performed on Saturdays June 7 and
21. On both days, The Beatles Laserium Show will again be presented
in spectacular Lazer 3D--with free Lazer Glasses and special Laserium
Beatles posters to go--at 6:00, followedby Dark Side of the Moon at
8:00 and Led Zeppelin at 10:00. And those joining us on the 21st will
help us celebrate the Summer Solstice and be first to hear of our
exciting plans for the summer and beyond. Admission is $15 payable
online at www.laserium.com, with a dollar discount for groups of 5 or
more. Reservations cannot be confirmed without advance payment.
Because seating is limited, patrons are advised to reserve early. The
Cyberstudio is located at 6911 Hayvenhurst Ave., Van Nuys, marked by
the lighted Laserium sign.
Also enhancing the Laserium shows will be stunning multi-color laser
effects filling the air overhead. Each show experience lasts about
11/2 hours and will begin in an adjacent studio with the interactive
technologies to be incorporated in the forthcoming Laserium
CyberSpace.Patrons will have fun enjoying the unique, “freespace-
interactive” LightDancer, which puts their full body in flawless
control of lasers, video and musical accompaniment. And the
experience now features an exciting new set of music and multimedia
effects. Says Ivan Dryer, creator of Laserium, “Our Cyberstudio may
be intimate in scale, but the effects are pretty overwhelming, and
what people can see and do is unlike anything available anywhere—even
previously at the Griffith Observatory!”
Following the special, enhanced performance of “Dark Side of the
Zeppelin” at the Coachella Valley Music Festival, Laserium shows will
again be presented in the Cyberstudio on Saturdays May 10 and 24.On
both days the Beatles Laserium Show will again be presented in
spectacular Lazer 3D--with free Lazer Glasses and special Laserium
Beatles posters to go--at 6:00, followedby Dark Side of the Moon at
8:00 and Led Zeppelin at 10:00.
