Screenings, you don't know what you're missing. Check out the movie

dearest. Really fun and they show some awesome movies.

John Carpenter's fantastic 80s horror/sci-fi thriller is a classic
favorite. Eerie settings, dark humor and wild special effects make
this one of the most imaginative and terrifying films of the genre. A
team of Antarctic scientists encounter a shape shifting alien that
has been frozen in the ice for thousands of years. When the alien
begins to mimic the humans in this remote settlement, no one can be
trusted The beautiful and spooky cinematography, an amazing synth
soundtrack by John Carpenter (Halloween) and Kurt Russell in one of
his best performances make this a perfect cemetery movie.
Bring blankets, picnic dinner and drinks for this special night under

Lightning in a Bottle is back! Get ready for the next adventure!
It has been almost 2 years since our last LIB together and not a day has
gone by where we haven't dreamt about the next adventure. We're bursting
with tons of new ideas and can barely contain our excitement. It's
finally right around the corner!
Together with all of our friends we will converge on a beautiful new
location and transform it into a wonderland for the senses, once again
capturing Lightning in a Bottle. Prepare to start the summer off
right!!!
4 days and 3 nights of activities and entertainment including music,
performances, inspiring art, yoga and meditation classes, sustainability
workshops, clothing and craft vending, tasty organic foods, camping and
much more!
This year’s Lightning in a Bottle will be home to an astounding array of
musical acts and live performances, art installations and live art
creations, workshops and speaker panels, and can you believe it…even
more to be announced!
The LIB team prides itself on filling three performance stages with a
wide variety of live and electronic musical acts and vaudevillian
performances, as well as deploying unique intersections of artistic form
and sustainable function to create stages that double as large-scale art
installations. Experience has taught us that top-level artistic and
musical experiences are best enhanced by still more art!

Heard of it? It's MY favorite way to start off the summer season!
Well....we need more volunteers! Due to the nature of the event, we
need more people to help us make this event happen. Mostly people
who want to come to the event and have fun and give back the community.
20 hours or more will get you in free to the event. The event is
from May 27th ~ May 31st. 5 days long!
We are light on the following areas:

Hospitality
Lightning in a PaintCan
Break Down / Tear Down
If you can work 20 hours or more.....please let me know. Thank you

** 6/13/10: MONTHLY BURNING MAN FILM SERIES DATES IN L.A. **
Mark your calendars as we continue our Burning Man Film Series at
Mission:Control (near the 405 and Jefferson).
Per your request, we will be changing the date to the 2nd Sunday of
each month.
Please email Athena at LABurningMan.com for the address if you dont
already have it.
Since it is a Sunday we are starting a little earlier. We will open
our doors at 6:30pm and start the film at 7:00pm. We will encourage
people to bring their dinner, and blankets to sit on or pillows. Its
like a picnic in the cemetery but with no dead bodies and no grass.
So you can sit, eat dinner, and watch a BM film. Then relax under the
awesome decor that is Mission:Control and have a great social
gathering after the film till 11pm. Its the LIVE social networking
site. (this is a leave no trace event)
EVERY MONTH: We will be having a clothing swap right after the film.
I know you are all spring cleaning, so bag up your old clothes and
bring them with you to the screening. All sizes welcome. Shoes and
accessories too. Hell, bring it all. Your trash is an others treasure.
And please mark your calendars for the next dates in the LA BM Film
Series. Its a great and relaxing way to visit with your fellow
burners, meet new people, and make new friends.

Rolling in L.A. with the Stones

On May 18, the Rolling Stones' 1972 classic Exile on Main Street will
be re-released in three editions: the remastered album, a version
with bonus tracks and a superdeluxe set with vinyl, DVD and booklet
(rumors of a super-duper-deluxe set complete with hypodermic and
burnt spoon remain unconfirmed). The DVD is a super-cool behind-the-
scenes during the making of "Exile on Main Street" in the early
1970's. A must see for rack fans and Stones fans.
Time has justified Exile's mythological standing as a masterpiece of
murk, an über-bluesy collection of spooky grooves. Fans know of (and
have mythologized) the band's infamous sessions at Nellcôte in the
south of France . And while it's true that most of the album's basic
tracks were recorded there, where the Stones had been taxed into self-
exile, Exile was actually wrapped and mixed right here in Los Angeles .
After the French heat got hip to Nellcote's pharmaceutical follies,
the Stones fled and arrived in L.A. on November 29, 1971. " L.A.
added a whole dimension to Exile's mixing and assembly," recalls
Marshall Chess, who, as president of Rolling Stones Records, was
privy to the inside. "The sunlight, the drive to work, the way the
girls look. L.A. 's got a very strong set."
