Born in Ohio and later, a Texas resident, he now paints and exhibits out of a beautiful gallery in South Park, near LA Live, The Nokia Theater, and The Staples Center. He is well -known for his highly textured abstracts, using a wide variety of materials and methods, including textiles, paper, photography, resins, iridescence, and tar, which he intuitively layers, rips, polishes, glues, wipes off and paints over, using non-traditional and often trompe l'oeil techniques. His sense of color, balance and light make each piece in a series a masterful creation. His work hangs in the collections of large companies such as Paramount Pictures, Creative Artists Agency, and Pepsi Corporation. High -profile collectors include film and music luminaries Sandra Bullock and Quincy Jones, as well as the late Dennis Hopper. Ismael Cazarez is a painter and a sculptor, born and living in LA, of Mexican heritage. He attended East LA College, and later earned a Masters degree in studio arts from Cal State University. He saw Chicano art for the first time at the Mechicano Art Center, and was inspired by " the cosmic spirit of Aztlan and the concept of El Quinto Sol." He has taught art and mural painting at the California Youth Authority and various community centers, including Para Los Nino's, Plaza de le Raza, and El Sereno Senior Citizen Center. He has shown his sculptures throughout Southern Cal and in Mexico. In this current series he uses various woods, including Italian Cypress and Rubber Tree wood, to create sensuous organic sculptures of a grand stature. Instead of more of the same corporate welfare/"trickle-down" economics that have been an abysmal failure for the middle class, why not try a trickle-up approach to rebuilding our economy by targeting relief at those most likely to actually help grow the economy? So I signed a petition to The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate and President Barack Obama, which says: "Forgiving the student loan debt of all Americans will have an immediate stimulative effect on our economy. With the stroke of the President's pen, millions of Americans would suddenly have hundreds, or in some cases, thousands of extra dollars in their pockets each and every month with which to spend on ailing sectors of the economy. As consumer spending increases, businesses will begin to hire, jobs will be created and a new era of innovation, entrepreneurship and prosperity will be ushered in for all. A rising tide does, in fact, lift all boats - forgiving student loan debt, rather than tax cuts for corporations, millionaires and billionaires, has a MUCH greater chance of helping to rise that tide in a MUCH shorter time-frame. The future economic success of this country is wholly dependent upon a well-educated, prosperous middle class. Instead of saddling entire generations with debt from which there is no escape, let's empower the American people to grow this economy on their own!
